Sirui has significantly enhanced its IronStar anamorphic lens lineup, introducing a trio of telephoto prime lenses that bring greater versatility to filmmakers. Building upon the initial release of 35mm, 45mm, and 60mm primes, the new 75mm T1.9, 100mm T2.8 Macro, and 135mm T2.8 lenses offer diverse focal lengths to meet various creative demands. While the 75mm maintains a fast T1.9 aperture, the 100mm and 135mm lenses feature a T2.8 aperture, ensuring a uniform front diameter and consistent control ring placement across the entire series. Notably, the 100mm T2.8 also functions as a macro lens, enabling close-up shots with remarkable detail, ideal for product and commercial applications.
These new additions are designed to expand the IronStar ecosystem, providing a complete solution for cinematographers. The 75mm lens is particularly suited for dialogue sequences and narrative storytelling, offering a natural perspective for portraits and close-ups with a pleasing sense of depth. The 135mm lens, with its strong compression and excellent subject isolation, excels at highlighting subjects against complex backgrounds in narrative films. All six IronStar lenses are 1.5x anamorphic, delivering ultra-wide cinematic aspect ratios when de-squeezed, such as 2.25:1 from 3:2 open-gate footage or 2.66:1 from 16:9 recordings.
As with other anamorphic lenses, the Sirui IronStars produce distinctive oval-shaped bokeh and characteristic streaky lens flares, contributing to a truly cinematic aesthetic. It is anticipated that these new lenses will offer interchangeable PL and EF mounts and maintain the series' reputation for aggressive pricing. With the IronStar 75mm T1.9, 100mm T2.8 Macro, and 135mm T2.8 lenses expected to be available in the latter half of the year, Sirui continues to empower filmmakers with accessible tools for capturing stunning, professional-grade anamorphic footage, fostering greater creative expression in the cinematic arts.
The expansion of the Sirui IronStar series showcases a commitment to evolving with the needs of contemporary filmmaking. By offering a comprehensive range of focal lengths, Sirui empowers storytellers to craft visually rich narratives, ensuring that cinematographers have the necessary tools to bring their visions to life with precision and artistic flair. This dedication to innovation and accessibility supports the growth of cinematic creativity across all levels of production.
